Shaker Kitchens

Shaker kitchens are popular for a reason. The simple, frame-and-panel door style is flexible enough to work in almost any home - from a Victorian terrace to a new build - and the clean lines mean the design ages well.

Many of our customers choose Shakers and it's easy to see why: you can take the same door profile and pull it in completely different directions depending on your colour choice, worktop material, and hardware.

At Glenfield we offer Shaker designs across a range of door styles - including the Edwardian Regent, Belgravia, and Marlow - each with its own character. A painted sage green Marlow with brass handles and a quartz worktop reads very differently to a classic white Belgravia with oak. Both are Shaker. Both are bespoke. We'll help you find the version that fits your home and how you actually use your kitchen.

For a full breakdown of what makes Shaker work and how to personalise yours, read our in-depth guide to bespoke Shaker kitchens.

Farmhouse Kitchens

Is the kitchen your social space? Your 'heart of the home'?

Farmhouse kitchens need room to breathe because they're used to showcase features that create a living space alongside everyday functional use. Think Range cookers, painted finishes and freestanding furniture to create your bespoke Farmhouse kitchen look.

When you avoid clutter and let the space work for you, you're creating a room filled with soul and warmth. Natural materials play a central theme through door and worktop choices, which can be combined with exposed brick, ceiling beams or distinctive flooring to achieve a genuinely 'lived in' feel.

Door choices like the Clifden, Woodsman, and Ellesmere suit this style particularly well - the Woodsman's oak finish especially, which brings the warmth and material quality a farmhouse kitchen needs. We'll pair the door choice with the right worktop, hardware, and layout for your space in the 3D design stage.

A Farmhouse kitchen is great for making cooking and living feel like the same thing, and we'll help you find that balance of quality design and lifestyle fit.

Traditional Kitchens

Traditional kitchens are for people who value form. If you love detail like raised panels or mouldings then we can help you build a statement design to wow your friends and family.

In our Wakefield, Florence and Lawrenson designs you will find elements of heritage and touches of luxury through ornate handles or solid wood panels for kitchen doors.

This style can carry a lot of elegance so it needs careful planning to achieve a high-end look that balances aesthetics and prestige. We'll help you achieve this through your kitchen consultation.

Modern Kitchen

Think of efficient design, smart storage and integrating your kitchen gadgets in a modern-style kitchen. As kitchen design has evolved, modern designs accommodate how people live and use their kitchens today.

They often incorporate handle-free designs and high-gloss finishes to create minimalist looks. Colours tend to be neutral or monochromatic, with kitchen doors often in an acrylic or lacquered finish for a high-gloss sheen. Modern bespoke kitchens may appeal if you're keen on incorporating kitchen-tech like smart appliances, hidden charging stations or flush-mounted hobs.

The overall idea is to balance a well-organised kitchen with a space that still feels warm and inviting. Our Stori Versa, Strada, Zola, Harborne, and Ferro designs are well-suited to open and semi-open plan layouts - the goal being that your kitchen flows naturally into the space around it rather than feeling like a separate room. A well-planned design is essential to get this right, and that's exactly what the 3D stage is for.

The Glenfield Design Process

Consultation Appointment

If you meet us at our showroom first then you're welcome to bring your room measurements along.

This conversation is designed to protect you from overwhelm - it is both exciting and an information overload once you launch into choosing units, worktops, layouts, door styles and kitchen technology.

Because we have carried out a site visit, we can ask you questions to assess how you will use the space day-to-day, what matches your sense of personal style and how to get the best functional use out of any given design too.

This is where our expertise helps us match what you're looking for with a kitchen that works now and in the future.

Site Visit

We carry out a site visit to assess your current kitchen, layout and use. This means that when we're offering advice on the design to replace your existing set up we can be exact with our recommendations.

Using accurate measurements and understanding the existing layout means we know what is structurally possible for you. We then bridge this to your vision so you get a kitchen design that works in the space you have.

Your 3D Plans

We design your kitchen using our 3D software that will help you visualise your kitchen choice. You can match door styles to your flooring, move sinks to different positions in the worktops, and more.

Playing about with the design this way gives you the feel for using and living in your kitchen already.

You also get to picture different options you're considering so that when you're ready to go ahead, you're confident it's the right choice.

Fit and Handover

From day one, we're keen to ensure the job is done with minimal disruption. You will find our fitters arriving and laying their dust sheets straight away so they can remove the existing kitchen immediately.

Because we co-ordinate all of the installation tasks, there are no time delays while the kitchen fitter waits for an electrician or a plumber to carry out their part of the job. A typical installation is done in 2–3 weeks using our in-house team, who will leave the work area clean and tidy every night before we leave.

Once your installation is complete, we make sure you're happy with every part of it before leaving you to enjoy your new kitchen living space.

Why Glenfield Kitchens?

When we install your kitchen, it's our own team doing the work from start to finish - not subcontractors. We coordinate every trade ourselves: the carpentry, the plumbing, the electrics. That's why a typical Glenfield installation runs to schedule, and why there's a single point of accountability throughout.

We've been designing and fitting bespoke kitchens in Leicester since 1977 - 48 years of projects, most of them from repeat clients and referrals. That track record matters when you're making a long-term investment in your home, and it's why we don't rely on discounts or promotions to win new work.

Every design starts with a 3D plan built around your specific kitchen - not a template adjusted to fit. You'll be able to see exactly how your kitchen looks and functions before anything is ordered, which means you go into installation with confidence rather than guesswork.

Our kitchens start from £20,000. That reflects the quality of the suppliers and components we work with, and it's a real starting point - not a number we inflate to show a discount against. We'll give you a clear and honest cost picture during the design stage.

You're welcome to visit our showroom in Glenfield before committing to anything. It's a useful step - you can see door styles and worktop samples in person, which makes the choices in the design stage a lot easier.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our bespoke kitchens start from £20,000, which covers design, materials, and full installation by our in-house team. Most of our Leicester clients invest between £20,000 and £45,000, depending on kitchen size, door style, worktop material, and appliance specification.

If you're planning a larger or more complex design - a kitchen-diner, for example, or a project with high-end stone worktops throughout - budgets typically sit between £40,000 and £70,000+. This includes flooring, tiling, lights and building work needed to make your bespoke kitchen a reality.

We'll give you a clear cost picture during the design consultation once we understand your space and what you're looking for.

  • Once the design is signed off and materials are ordered, a typical Glenfield kitchen installation takes 2–3 weeks.

This covers removal of the existing kitchen, all joinery, worktop fitting, tiling, electrical and plumbing work, and final handover.

Because we coordinate all trades in-house rather than subcontracting, there are no gaps in the schedule waiting for different contractors to arrive.

The full project from first consultation to completed installation - including the design and manufacturing lead time - is usually 10–14 weeks depending on the complexity of the design.

  • Yes. We're based in Glenfield and work with homeowners across Leicester city and the surrounding area, including Oadby, Wigston, Blaby, Hinckley, Loughborough, Market Harborough, Groby, and Anstey. If you're unsure whether we cover your area, get in touch and we'll let you know.

  • A fitted kitchen is assembled from a fixed range of standard-size units - what you see in the catalogue is what you get.

A bespoke kitchen is designed around your specific room, your storage needs, and how you actually use the space. That means non-standard dimensions where the room requires it, materials and finishes chosen for your home rather than a price point, and a design process that starts with your requirements rather than a brochure.

At Glenfield, every kitchen we make is designed from scratch for the person who's going to live in it.

  • Not necessarily - if you'd like to visit the showroom first to look at styles and materials, you're welcome to come without measurements.

If you have the room dimensions to hand, bring them along and we can begin to sketch out what's possible straight away.

For most projects we'll carry out a site visit before the formal design stage begins, so we can take precise measurements ourselves and make sure the design we create works exactly in the space you have.
